Following successful testing of keychain marking using the universal W30 sockets (see more), the time has come to test the performance of the W15 socket, designed specifically for ballpoint pens. This solution addresses increasing production pressures and the need to automate the laser marking process, eliminating manual part positioning.

We present the new, versatile W15 socket, which allows for marking pens of all available diameters, starting from 7 mm. The socket features uniquely contoured tips on both sides of the insert, allowing for the use of any type of pen without the need for tooling changes. The narrower grips (marked in blue) are designed for smaller diameters, while standard and larger pens fit the black grips. This allows for consistent quality and increased productivity with a single set.

Below we present a video of a pen marking speed test carried out for an external client using a 20W laser marker.

Performance Test Results

For the test, we planned to mark 1,000 standard pens, which were successfully marked in 65 minutes.

The feeder operated at maximum speed, with a marking pause set during the positioning of the first pen.

It’s worth noting that the marking speed can be accelerated by using a more powerful laser. This reduces the pause time for marking, thus increasing the ability to mark a larger number of pens.

Furthermore, the consistent marking quality and simple integration ensure a quick return on investment. The video below demonstrates marking narrower pens on our new dual-slot device.
