Types of interchangeable production cells for SGBELT

The SGBELT is one of the possible accessories for fiber, MOPA or galvo lasers with an open design, with exceptional customization. To achieve the right level of flexibility, we have designed production sockets that can be easily replaced. This allows for great flexibility in the quick changeover of the conveyor for the marking of a different product.

We offer 4 different sockets to choose from.

  • simple double socket for marking nameplates or business cards and flat tools;
  • single socket with dual pen marking holders;
  • single universal socket with replaceable inserts – the fastest form of socket changeover, you can change the use of the conveyor in 2 minutes;
  • universal double socket with interchangeable inserts for larger items;

Whenever we need to fill the conveyor with sockets, we have 2 types of sockets to choose from: single or double. The purpose of the socket, that is, whether it is universal or dedicated to a specific object, is determined by the shape and geometry of the object to be marked. Accessories for universal sockets (inserts) are the easiest element to design, because all it requires is a vector graphics program! The extremely short time required for changing the inserts results in the exceptional functionality of the SGBELT and allows you to mark even small batches of products.

Single socket – what to keep in mind

When creating a single socket, there are a few things to keep in mind during design. The most important thing is to map the correct dimensions of the socket. In our knowledge base you will find a separate article titled “How to design a universal socket”, where we describe exactly how to do it yourself. Another important detail during design is the correct location of the central cutout for the sensor, which checks whether an object has been placed in the slot or not. For universal sockets, we also have a design of interchangeable inserts, thanks to which you can quickly change the item to be marked.

Based on the 3D design of the item, we can design any fixing bracket for the socket where you can fit an item to be marked in the right position. In addition, a single socket can be divided into 2 working sockets, depending on the dimensions of the item, as in the case of pens. It requires appropriate setting of the conveyor steps in the control panel but allows for exceptional performance. This is especially useful in marking e.g. drills, milling cutters or other tools with a diameter of up to 12 mm.

Double socket – how to design

When creating a double socket, you need to start with taking the correct dimensions of the socket. Our knowledge base also has an article on how to do it exactly. As with a single socket, it is important to correctly position the cutout for the sensor. While maintaining the basic dimensions, we can design any holder or insert in the slot for the object in question. As a standard, we provide a socket that facilitates marking e.g. nameplates, and a universal socket with replaceable inserts.

Laser marking with SGBELT

In the video, we demonstrated the marking of many different items in single and double sockets along with interchangeable inserts that speed up the change of sockets for new applications and the marking of subsequent items. The marking speed depends on the power of the laser used. The speed of the conveyor can be easily adjusted for high-power laser marking, utilizing the high speed of the conveyor. Easy control, selectable language, 3 settings for sockets: single, double and single with two holders. All in a few simple steps available directly from the conveyor menu.

100% repeatability

With digital micro calibration in the controller, you get total repeatability.

Minimizing errors

The sensor will detect whether there is an object on the plate, if it is absent, it will not trigger the laser beam.

Speed of operation

Up to 120 cycles per minute, the speed depends solely on how long it takes the laser to conclude marking.

Ease of use

Built-in national language, user-friendly manual and step-by-step video on how to set up the device and connect the laser.

Expandability

When creating the conveyor, we knew that the requirements, even for serial production, are changing. So you can adapt your conveyor for new challenges thanks to 3D design and 3D printing.

Wide range of applications

Thanks to the ability to quickly change the sockets, the number of industries where this device can be used for the serial marking of small objects has increased.

Key benefits of using interchangeable sockets

  1. 3 speed variants for the conveyor slots (x1/2; x1; x2).
  2. Endless socket designs.
  3. Full availability of socket creation using a 3D printer.
  4. Universal sockets with interchangeable inserts created with a 3D printer, CO2 or diode laser or milling machine.
  5. High flexibility allows you to process even small batches.
  6. Fast return on investment through acceleration and automation of work.

These are just some of the features of the SGBELT application. It’s worth reviewing more materials to see that the SGBELT conveyor offers fast return on investment.

Summary.

You can choose the device with one of the sockets we propose or order two or even all types of sockets. Universal sockets are sold without inserts, as the inserts must be cut separately but they can also be ordered during the order placement. You need to remember to send a design with a cutting line adapted to the object that will be marked on the insert. In the knowledge base, you can find an article on how to prepare an insert using a laser.
We also leave the user full freedom to design the socket they need and print it on a 3D printer or design an insert and cut it out. This flexibility allows the conveyor to be used in education and by all creative people who want to expand their workshop with serial marking.
